Student ID Cards

RFID student ID cards specified around the institution's installed readers, credential data, artwork and issuance workflow. Several campus services can share one physical card only where each application, reader and backend has been defined and sample-tested.

Ideal for

  • University student identification
  • Campus building access
  • Dining and meal plan integration
  • Library checkout and attendance

Features

  • Multiple RFID frequencies (LF 125kHz, HF 13.56MHz, UHF 860-960MHz)
  • High-quality photo ID printing with UV overlay
  • Durable PVC/PET laminated construction
  • Custom branding with university logo and colors
  • Specified and sample-tested for the installed campus platform
  • Magnetic stripe and barcode options available

Proof, not promises

Every production run starts with a testable specification.

We confirm card construction, chip family, data format, artwork and reader-test requirements before mass production. Sample approval is the decision gate—not a generic compatibility claim.

Technical project details are shared directly with qualified institutional buyers where confidentiality allows.

Compatibility

Platform / use caseSupportedNotes
Campus card management platformsYesCompatibility depends on chip family, credential format, encoding and reader configuration. We confirm these inputs and require a sample test before production.
Library management systemsYes13.56 MHz HF cards work with self-checkout kiosks and ISO 15693 / ISO 14443A library readers.
Cashless dining / vendingYesAES-128 encrypted contactless authentication for high-volume tap-to-pay across dining halls, vending, and laundry.
Mobile wallet provisioningYesPhysical cards coexist with iOS and Android mobile credentials at the reader; provisioning is handled by the campus card platform, not by the card.

Encoding options

  • UID-decimal (factory serial as integer)
  • UID-hex (factory serial as hex string)
  • Custom prefix + UID (e.g. campus code + serial)
  • Diversified per-card keys (AES-128) issued from your HSM
  • Magnetic stripe encoding (HiCo or LoCo) — track 1, 2, or 3

Sample-kit workflow

  1. 1Send your campus card platform name + target chip family + sample artwork (PDF).
  2. 2We respond within 24h with a 5-card sample kit quote, lead time, and encoding test plan.
  3. 3Sample kit ships in 3-5 business days (DDP for EU/UK, DAP for North America).
  4. 4You test on your reader fleet and CSMS; we adjust idTag format or key derivation if needed.
  5. 5On sign-off, we produce the full order from your final artwork and key set.

What to watch for

Common pitfalls during a card-program rollout and how we address them.

⚠ Legacy 125 kHz proximity cards still in circulation
Issue a dual-frequency card during the migration window so a single credential works with both old and new readers.
⚠ Reader fleet returns the wrong idTag format (decimal vs hex)
We pre-encode idTags to match your CSMS expectations — verified on the sample kit before the full run.
⚠ Early wear on heavily used cards
Select the card body, print method and protective overlay for the actual use environment, then approve the construction sample before the full run.

Frequently asked questions

What chip families do you support for student IDs?
The full range of 13.56 MHz HF chips that comply with ISO 14443A — including legacy and current high-security families. We can also embed low-frequency (125 kHz) chips for dual-frequency cards used in migration scenarios. See our glossary for chip-by-chip detail.
Will your cards work with our campus card platform?
We specify cards against the installed platform rather than making a blanket compatibility promise. Chip type, frequency, credential format, encoding, licensing and reader configuration are confirmed in writing and validated with a sample before production.
Can students add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
Mobile wallet provisioning is handled by your campus card platform, not by the card itself. Our physical cards are designed to coexist with mobile credentials at the reader — the same student can use either tap-to-access mechanism. The reader sees a compatible credential in both cases.
What's the standard MOQ and lead time?
Standard minimum order is 500 cards. Lead time is 2-3 weeks for standard photo-printed orders, 4-6 weeks for fully personalized with chip encoding and bespoke key derivation. Express options available for urgent orientation cycles.
Do you support photo personalization at the manufacturer?
Yes — we can do bulk photo personalization from a CSV + photo archive you supply. Each card is printed with the cardholder's name, photo, and ID number. We also support on-site personalization workflows for campuses that issue cards in-house.
